MISSION STATEMENT
We believe in the amazing power of music as a vehicle for worship and reflection. Our aim is to perform music to the very best of our abilities, to help the LEP church at Bitterne to know God, and to make Him better known.
There are many different people who have chosen to worship at Bitterne, with many different cultures and tastes. We believe that the music we use should reflect the variety of styles represented in our congregations.
We exercise our art to God’s glory, and continually pray that the performance facet of our work will point people to Him.
MUSIC AND WORSHIP
We have a small traditional chancel choir, who sing at the 9am service, usually accompanied with organ.
The 1030 service tends to be less formal, and can take the form of an Anglican, Methodist or experimental liturgy. The music is supplied by a group of singers (about 8), piano, organ, guitar and woodwind.
Each 1030 service is preceded by some music to calm and prepare for worship and reflection. – either sung or played.
These is also an evening service – Sunday@7 – held in the Wesley Chapel. The music is supplied by a small music group – piano, drum kit, guitar and singers.
On special occasions the ‘Festival Singers’ help our worship. There are about 30 if us, and we sing at most Festivals.
If you would like to sing or play with any of these groups, you would be made most welcome.
Please see David Edwards who will be happy to answer any questions and who can be contacted through the Church Office.

THE ORGAN
Until recently Bitterne had an old pipe organ. It was a mixture of styles and actions, and had suffered from some neglect and inconsistent upkeep. Consequently, it was beyond reasonable repair.
The new organ is a digital Wyvern with wpx technology.
The audio system (8 channels) is situated in the remaining part of the old organ case, with the 8’ pedal tower in the furthermost corner.
The organ is capable of vast colour (and power), and enhances the various styles of worship.
