Bitterne is more than a 'Sunday Church'

Members of the church are involved in a variety of interesting projects ...

'Coffee Pot' welcomes you for coffee or tea and a chat on Monday mornings from 10-12am, and on Thursdays from 12-2pm for Soup, Cheese Rolls and Fruit. There's also a good selection of Fair Trade goods and cards on sale. It's in the Church Room behind Holy Saviour just off the Bitterne Precinct.  Do come and join us - you'll find a friendly welcome.

Rainbow is our friendly parent and toddlers group run by volunteer Church members with help from Rainbow members. We aim to provide a creative and fun filled environment for under fives and parents/ carers. We meet on Monday and Thursday mornings in term time in the Wesley Centre, Whites Road from 9.30 -11.30 am.

There are a variety of activities for the children including craft, ride-on toys, soft play, climbing frame, play dough and puzzles. There is a book area and we aim to have a time for story and singing at each session.
For the adults it is an opportunity to meet and chat with other parents and carers. Drinks, healthy snacks or biscuits are available for adults and children during each session.

We usually have end of term special events or parties linked with the Christian season as well as a summer outing.
If you would like to join us just come along to a session and try it –the first week is free and then it costs £1 per family.
Rainbow can be contacted through the Church Office Tel; 023 8044 6488.

StreetLight aims to make the light known to the young people, lost in the dark streets of Bitterne. The purpose of StreetLight is to reach out, in a practical way, with God's love to the young people who hang around in Bitterne. Initially members of the group will go out onto the streets to meet the young people where they are. We will take flasks of hot chocolate and offer them a drink and have conversations with them – about subjects of their choice. On some occasions this may lead to discussion about spiritual matters.

This is essentially seed sowing. In the longer term we hope to build lasting relationships between the church and these young people. The team go out every Thursday evening ...

If you would like further information, please contact one of the StreetLight team: Pete Nailer, Jane Fisher, Roger Moran, Karen Kingston, Ricky Yardley, Roger Ward, Emma Gibbons, Brian Gaffney. Or contact the Church Office.

Four times a year a Senior's Tea is organised - it is in the Wesley Centre and transport is arranged for everybody who needs help getting there. It's a wonderful occasion to meet friends and have a chat over tea. They are held four times a year - in August they start at 3pm till 5pm. The rest of the year they run from 2.30pm -4.30pm. There is usually entertainment, maybe a quiz or a speaker.

If you or someone you know would like to come to a Seniors' Tea, contact the Church Office on 023 8044 6488.
