What is Alpha?
Have you ever asked yourself about the meaning of life? Why are we here? What is life all about? The Alpha course is a chance to explore these ideas from a Christian perspective. We hope to answer the question is Christianity boring? Is it relevant to me? And is it actually true? So far over 2 million people in the UK and 8 million worldwide have attended an Alpha course and 1 in 4 people have heard about the course. Many of these have found that Christianity is not boring, it is still relevant and it is true however you may have your own thoughts and perhaps you would like to find out more?
How does it work?
The Alpha course is extremely helpful in giving an understanding of the Christian faith and an opportunity to ask questions in an informal atmosphere. There are several types of Alpha course depending on what would suit you best. All courses last either 11 or 6 weeks depending on what style of Alpha you do and include an away day, usually a Saturday, halfway through the course. We start each session by sharing in a meal together. This may be a full evening meal or something different for courses during the day. Then we listen to a short talk followed by tea/coffee and an informal group discussion.
Is it for Me?
Alpha is primarily for non church people to explore questions however many church members have attended and found it extremely useful. If you are new to the Church or would just like the opportunity to refresh yourself on the basics then come along.
Why do Alpha?
For many people it has been a life changing experience. No matter where you are on the journey of life, if you still have questions and would like to gain a deeper understanding or if you would like to renew your existing faith, it is a great way to explore these ideas with like minded people.
Here are some of the comments people have made about our last Alpha course:

What should I do next?
We are regularly running courses throughout the year and to find out when the next one starts please contact us.
If you are nervous about coming and perhaps do not know anyone on the course you could bring a friend, a family member, neighbour or work colleague along with you. Everyone is welcome.
How to get involved
Please pray and think about coming yourself and who you can invite to this Alpha course, a family member, friend, neighbour, work colleague. Why not ask a friend or your home-group to pray for you. If you have already done the course but want to bring someone, that would be great. There are plenty of opportunities for you to participate in the course yourself. Perhaps you would like to help with the food, setting up or leading a discussion group. We would love to hear from you.
Pray for those who will receive an invitation or see the course advertised that they will want to come.
Pray for all those involved in running the course in the new-year: speakers, small group leaders and helpers, those involved with the catering and administration.
If you would like more details about the course for yourself, or to pass on to a friend, please contact us
